Today we went for a long walk after the gym. We arrived at the visitor's center and arranged for Sisters Wilcox and Scherbel to escort us to Sarah Granger Kimball's home and then Brigham and Mary Ann Young's home. A real plus is that in November, there are no crowds and we get pretty personalized service! Without telling you all the details, suffice it to say that Sarah and Hiram Kimball were hard-working, amazing human beings. Perhaps the centerpiece of the story is that Sarah was instrumental in the formation and service through the Relief Society. After she arrived in Utah, at some point she was the General President of the Relief Society and she served for 41 years. Her husband Hiram was killed while on his way to a mission in Hawaii. Note the hand-written entry of their marriage in the family bible. Sister Kimball helped choose the name of Relief Society. The heading of this post represents the moment that we powerfully felt the reality that these floors were walked by the Kimball's. This is one of the surviving historic homes. Hiram's conversion to the church is noteworthy. He was promised great blessings when he and Sarah consecrated symbolically the life of their son toward the building of the temple. You'll have to read the story.

Hi, thanks for stopping by!

Here's the Browning Building. It has been such an important part of our lives. It deserves mention as we begin telling the story of our 1 year journey.
