Ox in the mire?

Hardly. It's more like ox in the snow. With the very cold temperatures we have been getting, today was a balmy 25º. I decided it was a great time to take the oxen out for a walk.*

(*portions of story may have been enhanced for impact)

Actually, Elder Jensen and Elder Julander did the walking. They thought it would be a good day to creat a great spot for a picture. With beautiful white snow and the temple as a backdrop, I couldn't resist. These oxen are about 10-12 years old. They were raised here. Their mission has been longer than any of the rest of us as they add to the atmosphere and take countless visitors around Nauvoo. This picture is of the same 2 oxen that were in the snow today.

The opportunities for experiences are all around us in Nauvoo. Just bundling up and walking out the door is always a start to a new adventure. Yesterday we visited the Lucy Mack Smith, John Taylor and Heber C Kimball homes. This hatbox and chest belonged to John Taylor.
