I'll leave the light on

One night as we left the Temple, it struck me how it is always completely illuminated. Not just any light. A bright, powerful, beautiful light. The thought that jumped into my mind was, ‘I’ll leave the light on for you’.

That old phrase conveys so much more than meets the ear. How many of our parents or loved ones would leave the light on for us?

Another common sight here in Nauvoo is a candle in the window. That candle was placed when a family member was away or possibly had passed on and was a symbol of remembrance. It also symbolized a silent prayer.

Someone, anyone searching for answers is eventually drawn toward that light.

It truly beckons us home.
