Tonight, we went to the symphony! We sat on the 2nd row – right here in Nauvoo. Performing was the Nauvoo Orchestra. It was wonderful and added a dimension to our experience here that was very enjoyable. I guess that’s because we knew so many that were there. Not just missionaries, but the people from this small town and others that live nearby. It made me realize Nauvoo is more than just an historic destination. It is a community, and there is music rising up from the rooftops.

The concert was in an old Lutheran Church built in 1876. The property has been purchased privately and now houses the Nauvoo Discovery Program.

It is difficult to convey how quickly friends are made on this mission experience. There are so many that are so close that we see so often.

Our hearts gladden each time we are together. They include the 24 Temple missionary couples that we serve with but, there are so many others. It’s a little bit like The Andy Griffith Show and this is the small town of Mayberry in the most flattering sense. Sheri probably thinks that I am Barney Fife. That dimension of our experience is such a plus. Life here is simple, unhurried and pretty much drama free. Things tend to taste a little sweeter.- just like the Celtic music we enjoyed tonight.

We even supported the event a little and got credit for helping!
